Curtis Hanson's film, originally titled Of Men and Mavericks but later released as Chasing Mavericks, follows the story of Jay Moriarity, a young surfer portrayed by the rising star Jonny Weston. Gerard Butler takes on the role of Frosty Hesson, the experienced mentor who guides Moriarity through the dangerous waves of Mavericks in Northern California. Moriarity, known for his fearless surfing skills, seeks to conquer the legendary waves with Hesson's help, forming a unique bond that transcends the boundaries of teacher and student.
